Mikaela McCarthy
President
Mikaela is a senior Exercise and Sport Science major from Katy, TX. She is the current president of SCA and has been an active SCA member for several years. Growing up and throughout high school, she was a thrower on the track team, played volleyball, and swam competitively. Mikaela has coached swimming for 5 seasons and is entering her second year as a graduate assistant actively coaching middle school athletics at Wellborn Middle School in College Station, TX. Upon graduating in May of 2023, she aims to begin working in the public school system as a math teacher and coach. For Mikaela, SCA has been an incredible opportunity for furthering the development of her coaching skills and also for networking with other students with similar interests. She’s very excited to be here and is looking forward to a wonderful year!! WHOOP!

Nicholas rex
Vice President
Nick is a sophomore Exercise and Sport Science major from Houston, TX with a minor in coaching. He is the current Vice President of SCA and has been an active member for one semester. During his childhood, he was a competitive swimmer in the Houston area. Currently, Nick is a level 2 coach through ASCA and holds certificates in Strength & Conditioning and Sports Nutrition from ISSA. He has coached swimming for four years as an Age Group Coach for Tomball Area Swim Club and a Head Coach for the CHSM High School Swim Team. Last year, Nick was a Student Manager for the Texas A&M Men’s Swim Team and worked as an assistant Age Group Coach for Aggie Swim Club. Upon graduation, he aims to pursue a career as a strength and conditioning coach. For Nick, the best part of SCA is getting to know and learning from the people he’s been able to meet at SCA events.

avery Henderson
Secretary
Avery Henderson is from College Station, TX and is a senior Exercise and Sport Science major with minors in Coaching and Sports Management. He is the current Secretary of SCA and has been an active member for one year. Growing up, Avery played soccer for both his school and club teams, as well as the Texas A&M Men’s Club team. He has coached soccer at multiple youth levels and is currently coaching for Brazos Valley Cavalry FC. Upon graduation, his career goal is to someday coach soccer at the professional level. For Avery, SCA is an amazing way to connect with coaches and students who have the same passion.

Anyia duhon
Treasurer
Anyia Duhon is a senior Exercise and Sport Science major from Port Arthur, Texas with minors in Health and Coaching. She is the current Treasurer for SCA and has been an active member of SCA for several years. Throughout her childhood, she has competed in volleyball, track, and cross country at a high level. Anyia’s purpose in life is to inspire and be a positive role model to the youth; not only pushing them to be the best athletes they can be, but also the best human beings they can be. She has taught group fitness at the Student Rec Center and has experience being a graduate assistant coach at College Station Middle School. For Anyia, SCA has equipped her with materials to be the best she can be and grow in her profession. She absolutely loves coaching and being in SCA!

maci irons
Social Media Coordinator
Maci Irons is a sophomore Exercise and Sport Management major from Monahans, TX. She is currently the Social Media Coordinator for SCA and has been an active member for one semester. In high school, Maci participated in volleyball, swimming, and track & field and currently throws for the Texas A&M Track and Field team. Maci’s coaching experience includes gymnastics, track, and volleyball. She looks to positively impact and equip young students through coaching sports, and has found great fulfillment in her coaching experience. For Maci, SCA has helped her learn more about the profession of coaching and has given her opportunities to build new relationships.
